A whole Lotta bag

Lotta Jansdotter printed wool bag
Lotta Jansdotter makes some swell printed fabric and printed items like these new wool shoulder bags. Looks like a nice size and a comfortable shape to wear don’t you think? Put me down for one!
She is also hosting printing classes at her studio in Brooklyn where you learn to print using all sorts of objet. Sounds like a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, and a sound investment with the holidays coming up…you could print one of a kind gifts for everyone on your list…and the wrapping paper too!

Coolest crochet ever.

squid.jpg
Jackpot! Charts are…errr…off the charts on the hipness scale when it comes to decorating these days, but look what I found on the Wunderkammer Etsy store…a crocheted version of a chart of 11 underwater specimens including squid, kelp, nautilus and sand dollars. How cool is that? You can also buy patterns to make your own crocheted coral and octopi. Ooh, just when I was looking for a yarn project too.

Glass blowing 101

Friday night Riley and I trudged through the deep deep snow to go out and learn how to blow glass at One Sixty Glass studio in Williamsburg. Let me tell you, glassblowing is the strangest, most exciting art project I have ever done, and it is nearly impossible to describe. I guess the best thing to compare it to is wheel throwing in pottery…you spin the glass and get it all centered, then open the hole in the center to create your shape. Ok, that is sort of a simplification of the process, but you get the gist right? Oh did I mention that it totally burns your hands and arms? Yeah, that’s some hot molten stuff you are working with…
So how do you like our pint glasses that we made??? Pretty attractive eh? The beer sure tastes good out of them though…

Metallic Monday

Check out these truly awesome pieces of jewelry and art from Gregmetal. I love the colors in that tile, wouldn’t it be beautiful in the sunlight? Be sure to browse the rest of their etsy shop as there are other gorgeous pieces to be had.

Affordable art - the reprise

I love these works by St. Louis illustrator Ashley G (hmm, can’t seem to find her full name on her Etsy site). Everything is really quite reasonably priced, and I love the new birds print above…$20? Super!

Great escape

I need an escape today, and these prints from Creo Ingero via decor 8 are helping a little…as much as super trippy graphic pattern can.

My new bookmark

Somehow I came across this fabulous site in my wanderings on the internet, treatsandtreasures.com. It is a web journal of sorts with all kinds of funny things on it, but all done in collage on what appear to be notecards. Thank you to the creative Marieke Berghuis for this unique look into your very colorful day to day life. Fun stuff!
